VIETNAM CULTURE OVERVIEW

Vietnam has 54 ethnic groups living across the country. Each ethnic group has its own cultural identities, thus, the Vietnamese culture has both diversity and unity. Apart from the typical Viet-Muong culture, there are other cultural groups like Tay-Nung, Thai, Cham, Hoa-Ngai, Mon-Khmer, Mong-Dao, and especially the groups in the Central Highlands that still maintain fairly diverse and comprehensive traditions of a purely agricultural society that is closely attached to forests and mountains.

CURRENCY

The official currency in Vietnam is the Vietnam “Dong” and the current exchange rate is 1USD = 23,270VND (as of Oct 2020). ATMs are located everywhere in all cities especially around the tourist areas. ATMs in Vietnam operate 24/7 so you can go to one anytime you need more cash. Some larger hotels and shops accept credit cards, and small fee may apply.

COMMUNICATIONS & POST

SIM cards are sold in convenient places, such as airports, post offices, hotels …. You can just buy a SIM card directly and put it on your mobile phone that you bring from home and you will able to call to others. The Vietnamese postal system can mail letters and postcards worldwide. International shipping companies such as FedEx, UPS and DHL are available in Vietnam as well in case shipment is need.
